The State Bureau of Investigation reported the mayor of Pervomaisk on suspicion of declaring false information

The State Bureau of Investigation reported suspicions that the mayor of Pervomaysk, Mykolaiv region, had entered inaccurate data into a declaration amounting to UAH 5.3 million. The basis for this was the materials of an inspection conducted by the National Agency for Corruption Prevention. This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.

According to the information of the Public, this concerns Oleh Demchenko.

During a full check of the declaration for 2023, the NACP established that the official did not indicate more than 300 thousand UAH placed in his bank accounts, and also did not declare his wife’s financial obligations to son-in-law for the amount of 5 million UAH. The wife used these funds to purchase an apartment in Pervomaysk worth over 4 million UAH, to which the declarant gave consent.

The total amount of inaccurate information in the declaration exceeds 5.3 million UAH. The official is charged with intentionally entering knowingly false data into the declaration, which is qualified under Part One of Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for up to 2 years of restriction of liberty.

Let us recall that according to Part One of Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, every person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by law and confirmed by a court verdict of guilty.
