The Supreme Court of Ukraine took into custody the commander of a military unit of the National Guard in a corruption case

The Higher Anti-Corruption Court (HCC) applied a preventive measure to the commander of the military unit of the National Guard of Ukraine in the case of corruption related to the purchase of drones and electronic warfare equipment. About this reported Specialized anti-corruption prosecutor’s office (SAP).

“The Investigating Judge of the State Criminal Court partially supported the position of the prosecutor of the SAPS and imposed on the commander of the military unit of the National Guard of Ukraine a preventive measure in the form of detention with the alternative of paying a bail of 2 million hryvnias”. – says the message.

Currently, the issue of a possible appeal of the selected preventive measure is being considered. By data of the NGO Transparency International Ukraine, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for National Guard colonel Vasyl Myshanskyi, the commander of the military unit, in the case of embezzlement of funds during the procurement of drones.

It will be recalled that on July 3 NABU and SAP announced the disclosure of a corruption scheme related to the purchase of UAVs and electronic warfare equipment with funds that local self-government bodies in 2024-2025 directed to support the Defense Forces.

On July 4, VAKS took into custody the owner of the UAV production company “Akopters” Vladyslav Marchenko (with the possibility of paying UAH 15 million bail), the People’s Deputy from “Servant of the People” Oleksiy Kuznetsov (with a similar amount of bail), as well as the former head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration Serhii Gaidai – a bail of UAH 10 million was set for him.
