The Verkhovna Rada Committee supported the ban on jeeping in reserves and national parks

The Verkhovna Rada’s Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management supported the government’s draft law No. 11024, which prohibits jeeping on the territories of nature reserves. About this reported in the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources.

The document aims to restrict the use of mechanical vehicles, such as jeeps, ATVs and buggies, in the territories of nature and biosphere reserves, national parks, sanctuaries and natural monuments, which are often used by tourists for entertainment, especially in the Carpathians. The ban also applies to other objects of the nature reserve fund.

Exceptions will be public roads, streets of populated areas and roads on private plots. The draft law will not apply to users and owners of land within protected areas, employees of the State Environmental Inspection, local authorities, law enforcement officers, emergency and rescue services, doctors, military and public inspectors.

“The approval of the document in the second reading will put an end to the discussions regarding the use of vehicles in the territories of the nature reserve fund. This option will remain in a limited form for employees of nature protection institutions, law enforcement and other agencies and services during the performance of their official duties.” – explained the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Svitlana Grynchuk.
