The VR Committee supported the ratification of the subsoil agreement.

The Committee on International Policy of the Verkhovna Rada supported the ratification of the subsoil agreement between Ukraine and the United States of America — both in principle and in general. About this informs People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
The next step will be the consideration and ratification of the document in the session hall of the parliament. According to the deputy, voting is expected on Thursday, May 8. This will pave the way for the practical implementation of the provisions of the agreement.
During the committee meeting, it was proposed to clarify the decision: any additional agreements regarding the creation of the Reconstruction Fund should not contradict the provisions of this agreement; the document applies to the entire territory of Ukraine within internationally recognized borders. During the voting, 11 members of the committee spoke “for”, one abstained, and two more did not participate.
We will remind that the agreement on subsoil between Ukraine and the USA was signed on May 1. It provides for the creation of an investment fund, to which 50% of royalties, license payments and other similar revenues from projects on the extraction of natural resources in Ukraine will be directed.
On the Ukrainian side, the document was signed by First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko, on the American side by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. However, the agreement needs to be ratified by the Verkhovna Rada to enter into force. The government introduced the corresponding draft law to the parliament on May 2.
