There will be no postponement of the draft: the Ministry of Education and Science has changed the rules for admission to postgraduate studies
This year, the number of people willing to enroll in postgraduate studies has increased 15 times. If before the full-scale war every year 7-8 thousand people entered this educational and qualification level, then this year there are more people willing to fight – almost 116 thousand, said the Minister of Education Oksen Lisovyi. In the Ministry of Education and Science, such an anomaly is explained by the postponement of mobilization, which is granted to those who have obtained a scientific degree. In order to avoid abuses, the rules of admission and studies in graduate school have been changed.
From now on, only those who have entered the budget will be able to study on a full-time basis, which allows you to get a deferment. You will be able to study at your own expense only in the evening or part-time.
“It will be possible to enter a postgraduate contract only for part-time or evening forms, which do not give the right to a postponement. The emphasis is on the quality of education, so we prioritize the full-time form. And in order not to cut off the possibility of admission for genuine, motivated and capable students, we increase the number of places on the budget – from 3,200 to 7,000”. – told Oxen Lisovyi.
Also, the ministry changed the form of the entrance exams and raised the minimum passing score on the exams.
“This year, we introduced a mandatory test for admission to graduate school – the EVI. It is also taken by future master’s students. And so, in 2024, a total of 246,189 people registered to take the EVI. 79% of them are men, among whom almost half 91,561 people are applying for post-graduate studies. Of course, I would like to see science become so popular in Ukraine. But now such numbers look more like an anomaly, an anomaly that harms the quality of education, the economy (fake learning creates new schemes and millions of dollars in the shadows), and most importantly, the fact that the education system has become such a “hole” for evasion is a symptom of it And that’s why we started its comprehensive transformation.” – said the head of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
