Trump announced the possibility of a new trade agreement with China
US President Donald Trump announced the possibility of concluding a new trade agreement with China. In this way, he made it clear that he is ready to avoid an aggravation of the trade conflict between Washington and Beijing. About this informs Bloomberg.
In response to a question about the prospect of concluding an agreement with China, Trump said:
“It’s possible, it’s possible.”
While he did not disclose the details of a potential deal, any deal could face significant hurdles, some of which stem from the actions of the White House chief himself.
In particular, Trump has stepped up pressure on Beijing by imposing an additional 10% tariff on all Chinese imports, citing China’s “unfair trade policies” and its failure to stem the flow of fentanyl to the US.
At the same time, China retaliated by introducing new economic measures against the US, thus reacting to the tariff increase initiated by Trump.
