New contracts in the Armed Forces of Ukraine will provide for payments to military personnel of up to 50-60 thousand hryvnias
New contracts for the Armed Forces of Ukraine will provide for payments of up to 50-60 thousand hryvnias, as well as a deferral from mobilization after the contract is completed. Current servicemen will also be able to sign them. This was stated by Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal during a briefing.
According to him, the contracts will be calculated for a period of two years, and after their completion, the servicemen will receive a deferral from mobilization. It will also be possible to conclude one-year contracts, but they will not provide for the right to a deferral.
The minister explained that the General Staff conducted a survey among servicemen, the results of which determined that the optimal level of financial support is 50-60 thousand hryvnias. This indicator will become the basis for payments under new contracts.
To implement the updated system, it is necessary to make changes to the resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers and to the current legislation. According to Shmyhal, the relevant documents are already being approved and will be submitted for public discussion in early 2026.
Contracts will have clearly defined terms – from one to five years. For contracts lasting from two to five years, a deferral of mobilization for 12 months after completion of service is provided. The basic level of monetary support will be from 50 to 60 thousand hryvnias, excluding allowances, combat payments and bonuses for signing a contract. The longer the contract term, the greater the bonuses the serviceman will receive. Contract workers will have the right to independently choose their brigade and position, and the primary opportunity to conclude new contracts will be provided to active military personnel.
“We are currently preparing the necessary changes to the legislation. We plan for the system to be operational in early 2026, the minister added.
