Ukraine and NATO have identified priorities for the work of the JATEC Joint Center

April 26, Ukraine and NATO determined priority areas of work of the JATEC Joint Center. This happened during a meeting of the Senior Supervisory Board of the Joint NATO-Ukraine Analysis, Training and Education Center (JATEC).
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Senior Supervisory Council, Assistant Secretary General of NATO for Operations Tom Goffus, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Serhiy Boev, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Brigadier General Oleg Apostol, Commander of JATEC Brigadier General Wojciech Ozga, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, NATO Representation in Ukraine and the JATEC Joint Center itself.
The members of the supervisory board emphasized that the meeting in Kyiv with the participation of representatives of NATO, the Polish armed forces and other high-ranking officials is a clear signal of the unity of the Alliance with Ukraine.
“Undoubtedly, the main final goal of any projects is a just peace and strong security of Ukraine. Both Ukraine and NATO are interested in the development of JATEC. The results of the Joint Center are useful for both sides.”, – stressed Serhiy Boyev.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the strategic directions of JATEC’s activities and the fulfillment of previously defined organizational tasks. Particular attention was paid to the issue of attracting new partners to the work of the Center, strengthening information stability, developing education and training areas, ensuring interoperability, as well as cooperation in creating solutions to overcome challenges on the battlefield.
The Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleg Apostol paid special attention to the importance of joint work on the development of means of combating enemy FPV drones on fiber-optic control, which will be the topic of the next NATO Innovation Challenge. According to the results of the previous hackathon, dedicated to the means of countering enemy KABs, testing of solutions in combat conditions is already underway.
“Ukraine and NATO are growing closer to develop cooperation and joint efforts in several areas, including resilience, protection of civilians and new technologies. Our activities within the framework of JATEC demonstrate the shared commitment of both the Alliance and Ukraine to quickly and jointly accomplish the tasks set.”, – noted NATO Assistant Secretary General for Operations Tom Goffus.
According to the results of the meeting, the JATEC Senior Supervisory Board defined clear criteria for achieving the full operational capabilities of the Center and outlined work plans for 2025-2026.
