Ukraine and Poland will introduce exchange of customs information to speed up border crossing
The State Customs Service of Ukraine has begun work on implementing a customs information exchange system with Poland. The main goal of the initiative is to speed up the border crossing process and significantly reduce queues for business representatives.
The relevant issues were discussed during the official meeting of the Head of the State Customs Service of Ukraine, Orest Mandzia, with a representative of the National Fiscal Administration of Poland.
Among the key priorities of cooperation, the parties identified the launch of data exchange mechanisms, the expansion of joint customs control practices, and the further development of the infrastructure of checkpoints. According to experts, the introduction of such tools will not only simplify bureaucratic procedures, but also increase the effectiveness of the fight against smuggling and other violations of the rules for the transportation of goods.
“Data exchange will allow us to speed up customs procedures and strengthen control over violations,” emphasized the Head of the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
The participants of the dialogue paid special attention to the scaling of the experience of joint customs control, which is already operating on certain sections of the border. The expansion of this format to other checkpoints should ensure a reduction in cargo clearance time, minimize vehicle delays, and increase the overall level of security of cross-border transportation.
Currently, the situation at the border remains difficult due to high traffic intensity, which leads to significant overloading of checkpoints. Long waiting times create financial risks for exporters and carriers, so the parties agreed to hold a special meeting at the level of departmental leadership to finalize the technical steps for implementing the project.
It is expected that the joint efforts of the customs authorities of Ukraine and Poland will contribute to the establishment of stable logistics routes and strengthen the integration of the Ukrainian customs system with European Union standards. The development of border infrastructure remains one of the strategic tasks within the framework of the bilateral economic partnership.
