Ukraine has given the development of a large lithium deposit to Trump’s friend Ronald Lauder
Ukraine has granted the right to mine lithium at the “Dobra” deposit in the Kirovohrad region to a consortium of independent enterprises, among whose participants is – a friend of US President Donald Trump, billionaire Ronald Lauder. This was reported by The New York Times, citing its own sources.
Ronald Lauder, heir to the cosmetics empire and an old acquaintance of Trump since his university days, had previously advised him on the idea of buying Greenland. The other party to the project is TechMet, which is partly owned by the US government investment agency founded during Trump’s first term.
According to the publication, the relevant commission has already made a decision on the winner of the tender, and its approval is expected in the near future by the Cabinet of Ministers. Two members of the commission noted that the tender was held impartially, and the winner met most of the competition requirements.
The project may become one of the first implemented within the framework of the agreement between Ukraine and the US on cooperation in the field of minerals.
