Ukraine has officially joined the international ePhyto system, which allows the exchange of phytosanitary certificates in electronic format. About this informs State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
“From now on, Ukraine has the official status of a country that can exchange electronic phytosanitary certificates with the help of the international ePhyto system with 124 countries of the world, including the USA, Canada, EU countries, Oceania, and African countries”, – noted the head of the State Production and Consumer Service Serhiy Tkachuk.
He emphasized that this opens up new opportunities for Ukrainian manufacturers, simplifies trade procedures and increases the transparency and efficiency of the certification system.
The implementation of ePhyto is an important step that will contribute to increasing the trust of international partners, strengthening the competitiveness of Ukrainian agricultural products, in particular grain, and ensuring their unhindered access to world markets.
This system will help solve a number of urgent issues, in particular, it will make it impossible to forge phytosanitary certificates, simplify international trade procedures, increase the transparency of the exchange of certificates between countries, promote the diversification of Ukrainian exports and prevent unauthorized import of plant products.
In Ukraine, the exchange of electronic phytosanitary certificates is carried out in the Phytosanitary Inspection System (PHIS) with the ePhyto solution, which was developed and implemented with the assistance of the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation (GIZ) project, the EU4SaferFood project of the European Union and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
