Ukraine is among the thirty countries in the world with the oldest population
In Ukraine, almost 22% of the population is over 65 years old. This was announced by the Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity, Denis Ulyutin, during a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine, Nakagome Masashi.
“Ukraine is among the thirty countries in the world with the oldest population. Almost 22 percent of Ukrainians are people aged 65 and older,” the minister said.
According to Ulyutin, the Ukrainian side highly appreciates Japan’s experience in involving older people in active life of society. He also proposed that Japan become a strategic partner in the implementation of the flagship direction “Active Longevity”. This initiative envisages the development of barrier-free infrastructure, support in providing rehabilitation aids, creation of inclusive routes and other measures.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Nakagome Masashi expressed interest in expanding cooperation between the countries in the social sphere. He emphasized that the Ukrainian experience in developing solutions in response to the large-scale challenges facing the state is important for Japan.
