Ukraine is preparing to resume airport operations: a special working group has been formed
The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development has formed a working group that will prepare for the resumption of operations at Ukrainian airports. The corresponding order was signed by the Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine – Minister Oleksiy Kuleba.
The main goal of the specialists’ work will be to develop specific solutions for the return of civil aviation to the airspace of Ukraine.
Significant attention will also be paid to the creation of mechanisms for protecting critical airport infrastructure in the current conditions.
The working group was headed by Deputy Minister Serhiy Derkach. It is planned to involve representatives of relevant state structures, local governments and industry experts in the work.
The group includes the heads of the largest Ukrainian airports, in particular, the General Director of the State Enterprise “Boryspil International Airport” Oleksiy Dubrevskyi, the General Director of the Kyiv International Airport LLC Volodymyr Kudak and the General Director of the State Enterprise “Danylo Halytskyi Lviv International Airport” Tetyana Romanovska.
The following also joined the working group:
- Deputy Director of the Department of Civil Protection and Preventive Activities – Head of the Department of Preventive Activities in the Field of Fire Safety of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Serhiy Batechko;
- First Deputy Head of the State Agency for Infrastructure Restoration and Development of Ukraine Mykola Boyko;
- Deputy Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Pavlo Yelizarov;
- First Deputy Head of the State Aviation Service Serhiy Korshuk;
- Head of the Aviation Infrastructure and Transportation Sector of the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure Dmytro Kushpil;
Director of SE “Ukraerorukh” Andriy Yarmak.
It was previously reported that Boryspil Airport will be able to resume operations immediately after the government decision to open airspace is adopted. The decisive factor remains ensuring flight safety and compliance with aviation security requirements.
