The Russian Federation was excluded from the membership of another international organization: Lubinets

At the extraordinary meeting of the General Assembly of the Association of Mediterranean Ombudsman, it was decided to exclude the Russian ombudsman from the membership of this organization. About it in your Telegram channel reported The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, emphasized the importance of this step.

This is the third international organization of ombudsmen that has decided to expel representatives of Russia from its ranks. The first was the International Organization of Ombudsmen, which excluded Russia in August 2022. Next was the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions, which adopted a similar decision in April 2023.

“While the UN Security Council is afraid to even start the procedure of excluding the Russian Federation, the friendly family of ombudsmen acts confidently. If international organizations follow the example, the representatives of Russia will be isolated and will not be able to spread their propaganda.”, – noted Lubinets. He added that the Russian Federation should not have the right to vote on the world stage.

This decision was a response to gross violations of international law by Russia after its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The Kremlin cynically disregarded all international treaties and agreements, which for years formed the legal basis for waging war and protecting the civilian population.
