Ukraine will introduce new passports tied to each community, city or region

The introduction of “passports of energy independence of regions” will allow the central and local authorities to more effectively coordinate efforts to develop local generation, which will contribute to increasing the energy sustainability of each region. About this informs Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.

Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolesnyk explained that the “passport” gives a clear idea of ​​the generation needs of each community, settlement or city, consumption volumes and the need for additional capacities for critical infrastructure facilities. Such a tool will allow high-quality decentralization of energy supply on the ground, and will also help the authorities to coordinate actions for effective provision of local electricity and heat supply needs.

The initiative to develop “passports” is supported by the Office of the President, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Regional Development, as well as local military and regional administrations.

“Passports of energy independence” will become an important tool for interaction with international donors, allowing to attract additional support to the regions that need it most.

The comprehensive plan, laid down in the structure of the “passport of energy independence of the regions”, will allow to coordinate the actions of all interested parties, and will also take into account the general plans for the development of communities, Kolesnyk said.

He also added that the government has already adopted a number of decisions for the development of distributed generation, in particular, regarding the simplification of the conditions for the construction of such facilities, connection to electricity networks and gas systems, as well as developed financial instruments for condominiums, utility companies, businesses and citizens that allow attract financing for the construction of generation for own needs.
