Ukrainian TV presenter Natalia Moseychuk was sentenced in absentia to 5 years in prison in Russia
According to the prosecutor of the Basmanny Court of Moscow, the charges against the Ukrainian journalist are based on the testimony of witnesses.

A court in Moscow sentenced Ukrainian TV presenter Nataliya Moseychuk to 5 years in prison in absentia. She was found guilty of spreading enmity and degrading the dignity of a group of people based on gender and nationality, reports the Russian publication Sota.
Moseichuk was sentenced in the Basmanny Court of Moscow. The prosecutor noted that the charges against the Ukrainian journalist are based on the testimony of witnesses who watched the video where she spoke negatively about the citizens of the Russian Federation. The prosecutor read the testimony of a witness who believed that the TV presenter humiliated the dignity of Russians with her words.
According to the case file, a criminal case was initiated against the host of the Ukrainian channel “1+1” over the air in March 2022. In this broadcast, Moseychuk made statements that the Russian side considers contemptuous of Russians and justifying violence against them. In particular, we are talking about a video where she addresses the wives of Russian soldiers with the following words:
“It seems to me that you should be afraid… You should be afraid that sooner or later you, wives, will become widows, and your children will remain orphans. Because the revenge of the Ukrainian people will find you in the resorts of Egypt or Turkey, where you will fly for money , earned on blood in Ukraine”.
This sentence caused a significant response both in Ukraine and abroad. The legality and validity of such a decision are actively discussed in the media and social networks. Many believe that this sentence is politically motivated and aimed at intimidating Ukrainian journalists.
