Ukrposhta introduces new parcel packaging standards from 1 November
Ukrposhta has announced the transition to a fully automated parcel sorting system and the introduction of new packaging standards.
CEO Igor Smelyansky said that in the first half of November, the sorting system will be switched to automatic mode. According to him, the promise of automation made three years ago has finally been realised, and Ukrposhta is moving to a new level of work after all the necessary adjustments are completed.
The changes will also affect the quality of packaging. From now on, Ukrposhta will not accept parcels that are not properly packaged.
‘With the transition to automated sorting, we have to say goodbye not only to sorters in blue coats, but also to parcels in garbage bags and packed in a ‘don’t know how’ manner. Therefore, from 1 November, we are introducing modern packaging standards,’ Smelyansky said on his Telegram channel.
To make the transition to the new standards more convenient for customers, Ukrposhta will provide senders with the opportunity to receive free bags for parcels up to two kilograms until 11 November, and will also offer reduced prices for boxes – for just UAH 5.
Smelyansky also stressed that the new standards will speed up the process of sorting and delivering parcels, as poorly packaged parcels delay the operation of sorting machines.
Earlier, Ukrposhta announced a planned 13% increase in tariffs.
