The Cabinet of Ministers has simplified the procedure for obtaining driver’s licenses of the CE category
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to simplify the procedure for involving individuals in driving vehicles of the CE category, i.e. cargo by cars with a trailer.
The corresponding resolution “On Amendments to Clause 9 of the Regulations on the Procedure for Issuing Driver’s Licenses and Admitting Citizens to Driving Vehicles”, developed by the Ministry of Economy, was adopted during a regular government meeting.
According to the new rules, the mandatory requirement to have at least one year of experience in driving a basic category vehicle before obtaining the right to drive a CE category vehicle is abolished. Thus, drivers will be able to gain access to the profession faster, which will allow to quickly close the need for specialists in the transportation market. At the same time, the key requirements for professional training, training and passing exams remain valid, which guarantees road traffic safety.
The implemented changes have a number of important consequences. First of all, they open wider access to the profession for young people under the age of 25, who previously had to wait to accumulate experience, as well as for women, whom the government wants to attract more actively to the transport industry. At the same time, it strengthens the logistics capacity of the state, because it allows to more quickly form the personnel reserve of drivers in the field of freight transportation.
In addition, the reform will contribute to the development of the road transport industry in accordance with European standards. It creates conditions for optimizing training programs in vocational education institutions and training centers, making them more flexible and oriented to the practical needs of the market.
In general, the document is aimed at harmonizing national legislation in the field of road transport with the law of the European Union, which is one of the important steps of Ukraine in the direction of integration into the European space and strengthening the competitiveness of the domestic transport market.
