Visa launches biometric payment in Ukraine

Visa international payment system launches in Ukraine, a new technology — Visa Payment Passkey, which allows online payments using biometric data. The technology makes it possible to verify identity and approve transactions using fingerprint or facial recognition. This decision is designed to significantly increase both the security and convenience of electronic payments.
The first Ukrainian partner to integrate this development was the HERTS platform, which specializes in online payment of utility services. The technology is implemented in the Click to Pay system, which is based on FIDO (Fast Identity Online) authentication standards.
After registering the card in Click to Pay, users will be able to make purchases on supported sites without the need to enter details or passwords – the payment will be made with one touch thanks to biometric confirmation.
“We are happy to introduce the Visa Payment Passkey technology in Ukraine, which will make payments through the Click to Pay service even easier and safer. This technology is truly revolutionizing e-commerce, increasing the security of transactions and at the same time eliminating the inconvenience of paying online on any device. We continue to implement innovative solutions to improve the payment experience of Ukrainian customers.” — said Tetyana Chorna, vice president, regional manager of Visa in Ukraine.
As a reminder, as early as 2024, Visa and HERZ implemented the function of paying for utilities via Click to Pay without entering a card number. Now, thanks to the implementation of biometric authentication, the process will become even easier and safer.
