Zelenskyi: the Russian attack on Kharkiv Oblast may be the first wave of a wider offensive
Volodymyr Zelensky suggested that the Russian offensive could be multi-wave, and the first wave may have been aimed at the Kharkiv region.
This is Volodymyr Zelenskyi reported in an interview with AFP.
“They started their operation, it can consist of several waves. And this is their first wave. But after this first wave, the situation is under control. They want to attack (but) understand that (attacking) Kharkiv is very difficult. It is a big city, and they they understand that we have forces that will fight for a long time. If they are stopped, they will not die by the millions for the sake of Kharkiv,” he emphasized.
The head of state noted that the situation in the Kharkiv region, where Russian troops advanced 5-10 km along the northeastern border before being stopped, remains under control, but not stabilized. The president also emphasized that Russia does not have enough forces for “a full-scale attack on the capital, as it was at the beginning of the invasion.”
