Zelenskyy updated the composition of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky approved the renewal of the personnel of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters. According to the new decree, the First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Yevheniy Ostryanskyi is included in the Headquarters. The decision was made based on the proposal of the NSDC and within the framework of a partial amendment to the previous decree No. 72/2022 of February 24, 2022, in accordance with Article 8 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Defense of Ukraine”.
The document states that Yevheniy Ostryanskyi joins the Headquarters as the First Deputy Secretary of the NSDC, responsible for the military block of issues. This includes, in particular, coordinating interaction with the Security and Defense Forces sector and organizing meetings of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters.
As reported, in October 2025, Zelensky appointed Yevheniy Ostryanskyi as First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. He holds the rank of Major General and is currently Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Prior to this, the military man had completed his full career in the service – from platoon commander to senior positions in the General Staff.
