A petition on awarding the title of Hero of Ukraine to Andrii Parubiy is registered on the president’s website
On the website of the President of Ukraine appeared a petition with a proposal to award the title of Hero of Ukraine to a people’s deputy from the European Solidarity faction, the former Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of the eighth convocation, the commandant of Maidan Self-Defense Forces, and a well-known statesman, Andriy Parubiy.
“We appeal to the President of Ukraine with a request to posthumously award the title of Hero of Ukraine to Andrii Volodymyrovych Parubiy – a Ukrainian political and public figure, a People’s Deputy of several convocations, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in 2016-2019, an active participant in the Revolution of Dignity, the founder and coordinator of Maidan Self-Defense.
Andriy Parubiy devoted his whole life to serving the Ukrainian state, protecting its sovereignty, independence and democratic values. He made a significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian parliamentarism, and also played a key role in ensuring the security of the Maidan during the events of 2013-2014.
His consistent pro-Ukrainian position, devotion to state interests, contribution to strengthening national security and European integration of Ukraine deserve the highest state award – the title of Hero of Ukraine“, the petition says.
Let us remind you that on August 30, 2025, an unknown person shot and killed Andrii Parubiy in Lviv. Law enforcement officers found seven shell casings at the scene. It is known that the attacker was disguised as a delivery service courier.
On the night of September 1, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, and the head of the SBU, Vasyl Malyuk, announced the arrest of a murder suspect. On the same day, a 52-year-old man from Lviv was charged with the intentional murder of Andrii Parubiy. The suspect admitted his guilt during a conversation with journalists.
On September 2, a court in Lviv chose a preventive measure for Mykhailo Scelnikov, the suspect in the murder of Andriy Parubiy.
