Battle for life: “White Angels”, city authorities and residents of Kostiantynivka in the whirlpool of war (video)

The war has been going on for almost three years… This is a time of indescribable pain, losses and trials for those who defend their land with weapons in their hands, who have lost a roof over their heads, are forced to live under occupation or hide from devastating shelling day after day. Many do not have the opportunity to evacuate – either because of physical limitations, or because of the fear of leaving their native places, or because of a lack of resources. Among them are the elderly, the seriously ill, and those who desperately need help. It is for such people that the “White Angel” exists – a unit of the police of the Donetsk region, which during the war conducts humanitarian missions in the front-line areas. These are the crews that save lives every day, evacuating civilians from under fire, delivering humanitarian aid and providing first aid. They have armored cars, certified paramedics, but the main thing is great courage and a sincere heart that does not allow people to be left in trouble.
On February 7, in Kostyantynivka, which is six kilometers from the front line, the “White Angels” were rescuing elderly bedridden patients under constant explosions. The city was in a critical situation, and the villages around it were almost destroyed. Although many people have evacuated, some remain because they cannot leave. And in the midst of this chaos, they appear – policemen who are not afraid of danger in order to pull out another life from the blows of war.
It should be remembered that the first White Angel group appeared in Marinka at the beginning of the invasion of the Russian Federation, it was there that law enforcement officers first began to take away civilians, distributing food and medicine. The idea quickly spread, and later a whole unit was created that works across the front line. The name of the unit was given by the people themselves for the white color of the cars and the fact that the police, like angels, always appear where there is no hope left. They are not heroes from movies, they are real modern heroes who are always around. In every flight, in every saved life, they prove that humanity is stronger than fear, and goodness is stronger than war.
Journalists of the “FAKT” information agency visited the city where the events took place, saw with their own eyes how law enforcement officers were rescuing people, talked with the leadership of the front-line town of Kostyantynivka and local residents.

The city government does not leave people without help either, which daily fights not only with the consequences of the war, but also for every life of the citizens. To the sounds of explosions, she strengthens defenses, organizes evacuation, and looks for ways to protect people. Despite the constant attacks, the work does not stop – the shattered houses are trying to rebuild, and those who remained are provided with everything necessary for survival. People who could not or did not want to leave the city need special attention. Their safety and well-being is a priority that unites local authorities, volunteers and international partners. Humanitarian cargo, medical aid, warm words of support – all this breaks through the chaos of war every day so that those who remain do not feel forgotten.
Serhiy Gorbunov, the head of the Kostyantyniv city military administration of the Kramatorsk district of the Donetsk region, said that the city regularly suffers from enemy shelling with various types of weapons – aerial bombs, rockets, artillery. As a result of the attacks, the homes of civilians are destroyed, there are many wounded and dead. He showed the places that the war had turned into ruins. Mutilated buildings, black voids of windows looking into the sky like silent witnesses of human grief. Where not so long ago life was raging, now there are only ruins and ashes. According to him, the city hospital currently has about a hundred patients who need urgent medical care.
Mykola Tereshchenko, the first deputy head of the Kostyantyniv city military administration, emphasized that the situation in the city remains critical, it lives under the constant threat of new attacks. In such conditions, evacuation becomes a matter of life and death. He urged everyone who still has the means to leave for safer regions. Mykola Tereshchenko noted that the authorities are doing everything possible to help people leave the danger zone. Evacuation flights are carried out regularly, help is provided to everyone who needs it.
“We don’t know what will happen in an hour, but we are doing everything to save as many lives as possible.” – he emphasized.
His words are not just an appeal, they are a call to local residents not to delay, not to test fate, not to wait until the danger becomes fatal. Every minute, every moment in this city could be the last.
