From March 2026, updated rules for advertising veterinary medicines and medical feeds will come into effect in Ukraine. Manufacturers are now prohibited from misleading consumers about the characteristics of the product and exaggerating its properties. The changes were reported in State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.
The department noted that the innovations are aimed at ensuring transparency and safety of advertising. Advertising is understood as any information that promotes the sale, supply or use of veterinary drugs, including the distribution of samples and sponsorship activities.
Only those medicines that have passed state registration are allowed to be advertised. The authors of advertising materials must clearly indicate the purpose of promoting the product, including stimulating its sale, use or distribution.
It is prohibited to position drugs as feed or biocide if they do not belong to these categories. The information in the advertisement must correspond to the official characteristics of the product and not contain exaggerations regarding its properties. Misleading information about the use of medicines or feed is also not allowed. In the event of suspension or cancellation of the registration of a drug, its advertising is prohibited.
“Advertising should not mislead either specialists or animal owners, but on the contrary – help to use drugs correctly, take care of animal health and the safety of animal products.
The new rules provide a clear framework for manufacturers and distributors, stimulate responsible communication and bring the Ukrainian market closer to European standards,” emphasized Andriy Kreytor, Deputy Head of the Service.
The changes to the advertising of goods were adopted within the framework of the European integration law No. 4718-IX, which the Verkhovna Rada adopted in December 2025.
The parliament noted that this document implements European standards of veterinary medicine in the field of animal husbandry. In addition to advertising medicines and feed, the changes also concern vaccination, conditions for keeping animals, their transportation, examination and treatment.
