From now on, commanders of military units will be able to select reservists and conscripts who voluntarily want to serve during mobilization on their own, without the involvement of Territorial Recruitment Centers. About this stated Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov.
“Today, we took an important step in the field of defense of our state. The combat brigades received a new tool that will allow for high-quality recruiting, the result of which is the targeted recruitment of volunteers.”, – said the minister.
According to the government decree, now volunteer reservists and conscripts can choose a military unit for service directly, without the need to contact the Territorial Centers of recruitment and social support.
Commanders of military units receive the following powers:
- Issue referrals for military medical examination to determine fitness for service;
- Complete combat units with volunteers who wish to serve during mobilization.
- The list of military units whose commanders will have the right to mobilize volunteers will be determined by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Minister of Defense also noted that this newly introduced mechanism will enable every Ukrainian to find his place in the ranks of the defenders where their abilities will bring the greatest benefit.
“I am grateful to the government for supporting this initiative and am convinced that this system will help us to resist Russian aggression even more powerfully, combining the patriotic motivation of defenders with the urgent needs of the front.”, – noted Umyerov.
