In Zaporizhzhia, law enforcement officers detained two local residents who, according to the investigation, were carrying out the tasks of the Russian special services. They set fire to Ukrainian military vehicles and planned a terrorist act in Kyiv. This was reported in I worked as a press officer GU of the National Police, regional prosecutor’s office and Security services of Ukraine.
According to the investigation materials, the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) recruited a 20-year-old resident of Zaporozhye through the Telegram messenger. Together with her 26-year-old roommate, she searched and set fire to the vehicles of the armed forces. Criminals recorded the location of equipment and planned attacks. One of their targets was an infantry fighting vehicle at a regime facility in the city.
In addition, the suspect recruited a minor to set fire to a military car, which he and his friends set on fire and recorded it on video. In carrying out the task, the group acted according to the instructions of the Russian curators.
The SBU also discovered that the suspects were preparing a terrorist attack in Kyiv. Their mission was to set off an explosion in a crowded place to cause maximum civilian casualties. For this, the girl received instructions on how to use the detonator, which she had to get from a secret cache, the location of which was to be announced before the terrorist attack itself.
Both suspects were arrested and remanded in custody without bail. They are suspected under the articles of treason and the commission of a crime by a group of persons. If they are found guilty, they face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
