In Cherkasy region, a 24-year-old man was detained for raping an 85-year-old villager
In Cherkasy region, a man broke into the home of an 85-year-old woman, beat her, and raped her. The victim was taken to the hospital, and the attacker was taken into custody. This was reported by the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor’s Office and the local Main Directorate of the National Police.
On the night of March 28, an 85-year-old resident of one of the villages of the Uman district contacted law enforcement officers. She said that an unknown man broke into her home and committed violence against her.
According to the investigation, a drunken man broke into the victim’s house at night and began demanding alcohol. He later used physical violence and raped the woman.
“As a result of the attack, the woman received serious bodily injuries, including a fractured femur,” the prosecutor’s office noted.
The victim was hospitalized. Law enforcement officers detained the attacker less than a day later. He turned out to be the woman’s 24-year-old villager.
The man was charged under Part 1 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code – rape. The Uman City District Court chose a preventive measure for him in the form of detention without the right to post bail. The suspect faces 3 to 5 years in prison. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
Earlier, a 39-year-old man was detained in Transcarpathia, who broke into the house of a 77-year-old woman and, threatening her with a knife, tried to rape her.
