Mindić declared his readiness to return to Ukraine on condition of “honest bail”
Timur Mindich, who appears in the “Midas” case regarding large-scale abuses in the energy sector, has declared his readiness to return to Ukraine and even take him into custody if the court sets, in his words, “honest bail.” He reported this in a conversation with Oleksiy Honcharenko, a member of parliament from the European Solidarity faction.
“I would come to Ukraine today, I would receive suspicion and I would even go to prison if there was a fair bail. I just understand that they will now say such a deposit that I will not be able to collect it,” Mindich noted.
He also stated his desire to speak at the meeting of the temporary investigative commission, and is also ready to give an explanation in court in an online format. The businessman emphasized that he supports the actions of NABU and does not object to fact-checking.
“I support what NABU is doing. If you have a question, please do. I am a friend of the president, this is my only sin today. That is, there is increased interest in me. I am not against fact-checking. But I am definitely against the accusations to the court and the investigation — what journalists, you and others are doing now,” he said.
Mindich claims that he is not involved in the transactions in the Midas case and wants the anti-corruption authorities to understand all the circumstances. According to him, he is currently in Israel, where he went as planned, and in Ukraine, as he believes, there is no fair justice.
Separately, the businessman commented on the sanctions imposed against him, signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky. In his opinion, the fact of personal acquaintance cannot be a basis for evading state decisions, and if the suspicions are confirmed, such relationships are irrelevant.
Mindich also recalled the episode with the purchase of bulletproof vests. He confirmed that he discussed the issue of supply with the then Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov, but assured that he intended to help, not to make a profit. According to him, his friend’s company offered a lower price, but was not allowed to participate due to internal problems.
According to the investigation, the participants in the corruption scheme in the energy sector legalized about $ 100 million obtained illegally. A few hours before the searches, Mindich and another person involved in the case, Oleksandr Zukerman, left Ukraine and went to Israel. Subsequently, the President implemented the NSDC decision on sanctions against them as citizens of Israel.
At the same time, one of the NABU detectives, Ruslan Maghamedrasulov, noted that Mindich is not a key person in all the schemes that the bureau is investigating.
