The “Book to the Front” project handed over 25,000 books to the soldiers: curator Andriy Ovcharuk

The “Book on the Front” project, initiated by the military non-governmental organization “Cultural Airborne”, is aimed at providing Ukrainian defenders with quality literature. Andriy Ovcharuk, a sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the curator of the project, told about this during ether on Army FM radio. Ovcharuk, who previously worked at the Kyiv branch of “Stary Lev Publishing House”, shared the story of his entry into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and also advised which books should be read by military personnel.

“On February 24, 2022, I woke up to the explosions, and already at noon I was at the military commissariat, despite the fact that I had not served before because of poor eyesight. For almost two years, I served in the 101st separate guard brigade of the General Staff, and at the beginning of 2024 I was offered to lead a project related to books, which was close to my pre-war activity”, – said Ovcharuk.

The goal of the “Book to the Front” project is to deliver literature to the front lines, hospitals and training centers.

“Our team has already delivered more than 25,000 books for the military. Historical literature and motivational books are especially popular.” he noted.

The military also gets access to e-books through a partnership with Yakaboo, which provides free access to a library of e-books and audiobooks.

Ovcharuk recommended Sebastian Junger’s book “Tribe” to the listeners, which is devoted to the adaptation of the military to civilian life and the interaction between civilians and veterans.
