“New Post Office” plans to open a bank with a limited license: Hetmantsev
The Verkhovna Rada passed a law that allows any large network company to open a bank with a limited license. This is exactly what Nova Poshta plans to use. the head of the Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Danylo Hetmantsev told about it.
He explained that the adopted law makes it possible to create banks to provide people with financial services in frontline and hard-to-reach areas, where traditional banks are closed due to unprofitability.
“By the way, this bank can also open a “New Post Office”. They participated in all our meetings on this topic and are going to do so, as far as I know,” Hetmantsev said.
According to him, “theoretically this can be done, for example, by ATB”.
“I don’t know if they want it, but it could be any large network structure. Limited license, limited volume of operations – I don’t see anything wrong here at all, the deputy added.
Commenting on the NBU’s remarks regarding Ukrposhta, which also intends to obtain such a license, Hetmantsev emphasized:
“I don’t know the details, but I think the discussion around the financial inclusion bank is more of a political discussion. Its origins are unclear to me, the position of the National Bank, with which the law was agreed in full detail, is unclear.
