Over 60% of Ukrainians do not use AI: KIIS

More than 60% of Ukrainians do not use artificial intelligence technologies at all. This is evidenced by the results of a nationwide survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) spent in February-March 2025.

According to the study, only 17% of Ukrainian citizens are regular users of AI. For comparison, in the USA this figure was 55% last year. These technologies are most actively used by young people — 54% of respondents in the 18-29 age group constantly use AI. On the other hand, only 4% of people over the age of 60 are such.

The level of use of AI is significantly influenced by the place of residence and financial capabilities. In cities with a population of more than 500,000 people, 25% of respondents regularly use artificial intelligence, while only 9% of rural residents use it. Among those who consider themselves well-off and able to “afford almost everything”, 39% actively use AI, and among the least well-off – only 4%.

Despite the low level of practical application, awareness of artificial intelligence in Ukraine remains high — 88% of citizens know about its existence. At the same time, the attitude towards this technology is quite cautious: 45% of respondents believe that AI carries many risks and can potentially lead to serious problems. At the same time, 39% see it as a driver of development and a step towards a better future.

The President of KMIS Volodymyr Paniotto emphasizes that in order to form a stable future, Ukraine should actively support the development of artificial intelligence by investing in scientific research and educational programs for citizens.

According to a new PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) study titled “Value in Motion,” the adoption of AI has the potential to significantly accelerate global economic growth. Experts predict that artificial intelligence could increase global GDP by 15 percentage points by 2035, adding about 1 percentage point to growth rates annually.
