Since the beginning of the war, the SBI has investigated 2,399 criminal proceedings for crimes against Ukraine’s national security

Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has reviewed nearly 2,500 national security-related cases.
The SBI reported that about 1,000 indictments were submitted to the court.
‘Within the framework of open criminal proceedings, evidence and witness testimonies are collected, etc. This evidence allows us to bring to justice those who betrayed Ukraine during the war. In some criminal proceedings, the courts have already imposed real terms of imprisonment on the detained defectors,’ the agency said.
In total, since the beginning of the war, the SBI has processed 2,399 criminal cases of crimes against national security, including
- 1,746 cases under the article on high treason (Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),
- 503 cases under the article on collaboration (Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),
- 38 cases of aiding and abetting the aggressor state (Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and others.
As part of the pre-trial investigations, the following were
- 1,239 people were served suspicion notices,
- 501 people were put on the wanted list,
- 1,317 people were checked for involvement in high treason and collaboration,
- 997 indictments were submitted to court.
