The police set up roadblocks at the entrance to the building where the LGBT festival will be held

On June 9, an LGBTQ+ festival is planned to be held in Kyiv. Police officers set up a roadblock at the entrance to the Close art center. Law enforcement officers check everyone who wants to enter the “Oberig” base, which contains data on military records. There are no TCC representatives near the art center yet.

In Kyiv, a scandal is gaining momentum involving employees of territorial procurement centers and the KyivPride LGBT community. Activists accused the military commissars of harassing the community and of “heightened attention”.

Police officers also checked documents near the Closer art center on June 8, during preparations for the party. KyivPride emphasized that the events they organized on June 8 and 9 had a charitable nature and were aimed at raising funds for the Ukrainian military. Representatives of the organization consider such actions by law enforcement officers to be acts of persecution of the LGBTQ+ community.

“We, the representatives of the Ukrainian pride movement, are fully aware of the importance of mobilization and taking the necessary measures to ensure it, as we must together fight back the enemy with arms. At the same time, we have information that among all the mass cultural and educational events that are being held today in In Kyiv, representatives of the TCC chose only the LGBTQ+ event for inspection. We consider these actions to be targeted pressure on the Pride movement in Ukraine.”, – noted representatives of KyivPride.

We will remind, June 16 is planned to be held in Kyiv Kyiv Pride march. The last time such an event was held in the capital was in 2021. This year, the march is being organized in the subway. For security reasons, only 500 people will be able to participate in the event. For this, they must register in advance. In order to avoid provocations, the exact time and place of the Kyiv Pride March will not be announced in advance.
