The President of Ukraine announced the exposure of a People’s Deputy, officials and military personnel in bribery
President Volodymyr Zelenskyi stated about further exposures of corruption crimes involving high-ranking officials. According to him, the National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) have exposed people’s deputies, heads of district and city administrations, as well as servicemen of the National Guard of Ukraine for receiving bribes. The head of state announced this after a meeting with the head of NABU Semyon Krivonos and the head of SAP Oleksandr Klymenko.
“The anti-corruption bodies exposed one of the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, as well as the heads of district and city administrations, and servicemen of the National Guard of Ukraine for bribery. Unfortunately, these were frauds on the procurement of EW and FPV. Absolutely immoral. There should be full and fair accountability for this.”— the president said.
He emphasized that there can be no tolerance for corruption in Ukraine.
“There can only be zero tolerance for corruption, clear teamwork to expose corruption and, in the end, a fair sentence.” — emphasized Zelensky.
The head of state also noted that anti-corruption bodies act independently, and the new law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday guarantees them all the necessary powers to effectively fight corruption.
This statement was made against the background of intensifying anti-corruption activities in Ukraine, which the president insists on conducting openly, independently and systematically – as a signal to both Ukrainian society and international partners.
Information about the names of those involved in the cases, the circumstances of the exposure, and the amount of the bribes has not been disclosed at this time. It is expected that NABU and SAP will publish official details of each of the episodes in the near future.
