The US ban on financing pensions from the assistance provided will not lead to problems in the budget – David Arahamia

According to People’s Deputy, head of the “Servant of the People” parliamentary faction and member of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence David Arahamia, the prohibition of the USA to finance pension payments from the financial assistance provided by them will not lead to problems in the budget of Ukraine.
Arachamia noted, that although this poses a certain threat, there will be no problems this year, because Ukraine can redistribute funds among other donors who do not have such restrictions. For example, funds allocated by Japan can be directed to pensions, and US funds – to other categories of state budget expenditures.
“The ban on financing pension payments is a certain threat, but this year there will be no problems, because we can carry out redistribution among other donors who do not propose such a ban. Conventionally speaking, the money allocated by Japan can be spent on pensions, while funds from the USA will go to other categories of state budget expenditures. So the problem is not critical, but the trend itself needs attention.” – noted the parliamentarian.
He also emphasized that Ukraine already has guarantees of financing for the next year from the EU under the Ukraine Facility plan. There is also a program of cooperation with the IMF, and negotiations are ongoing with other partners.
“During elections, there is always a tough campaign that can work against us. Therefore, we need to combine all diplomatic efforts to minimize potential problems.”, – concluded the people’s deputy.
