Two prisoners in Khmelnytskyi pre-trial detention center received higher education diplomas
Two prisoners of the Khmelnytskyi pre-trial detention center successfully defended their diploma theses and received higher education. 12 people are currently receiving secondary education in the institution.
As told by the acting deputy head of the pre-trial detention center for social, educational and psychological work, Ivan Holinsky, the prisoners were given the opportunity to prepare for the exams, which they successfully passed. Work is also underway to ensure technical capabilities for preparing for external independent assessment for those who wish to enter educational institutions.
During 11 months of detention, one of the graduates prepared and defended his thesis and became a qualified railway logistician. He used materials from the local library to study.
To ensure the possibility of obtaining a complete general secondary and higher education in the SIZO, a memorandum was concluded with Khmelnytskyi National University and Lyceum No. 15 named after Oleksandr Spivachuk. Online platforms and Google Classroom allow students to complete assignments and receive grades from teachers.
Currently, 12 prisoners are receiving secondary education, and three more are preparing to enter higher education.
