Ukraine introduced the National Day of Prayer on February 24

The Verkhovna Rada decided to introduce a National Day of Prayer in Ukraine, which will be celebrated annually on February 24 – the anniversary of the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia. Resolution No. 12412 was supported by 255 people’s deputies, reported People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
As noted in the document, the purpose of introducing the National Day of Prayer is to strengthen national unity, consolidate Ukrainian society, and raise the moral and patriotic spirit.
“Prayer to God is a supernatural force for victory and a guarantee of the consolidation and unity of Ukrainian society. A joint prayer will protect Ukraine and those who continue to fight on the battlefield, will be a testimony of the spiritual unity of the Ukrainian people and a symbol of our unshakable faith in victory.” – says the explanatory note of the authors of the project.
According to the resolution, on the National Day of Prayer, the session of the Verkhovna Rada will begin with the performance of Ukraine’s spiritual hymn “God is Great, One”. In addition, the government, together with representatives of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and religious organizations, should develop and approve a plan of events for the official celebration of this day at the state level.
