Zelenskyy announced a meeting with Trump regarding the “peace plan”
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced an agreement on a personal meeting with US President Donald Trump, which is due to take place in the near future and may significantly affect the further course of the peace process. The head of state wrote about this on Telegram.
According to Zelensky, the day before he heard a report by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov on his next contacts with the American side. As a result of these negotiations, the parties agreed to hold a meeting at the highest level.
“We are not wasting a single day. We have agreed on a meeting at the highest level – with President Trump in the near future. Much can be decided by the new year, Zelensky said.
As previously reported, during the consultations between Ukraine and the United States in Miami, which took place on December 19-21, the parties focused on working on four key documents that should form the basis of the future “peace agreement”. Most of the provisions were agreed upon, but the territorial issue remains the most difficult.
On December 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky publicly revealed the content of the 20-point peace plan for the first time. At the same time, the United States stated that achieving a settlement of the war in Ukraine and establishing a lasting peace is possible within the next 90 days. The administration of US President Donald Trump, according to American officials, intends to put pressure on both Russia and Ukraine.
At the same time, according to media reports, Russia will insist on making changes to the latest version of the US peace plan. In particular, the Kremlin is demanding additional restrictions on the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and is also raising the issue of sanctions and frozen Russian assets.
