In Kharkiv, a rocket hit a shelter near the Nova Poshta terminal: four people died

Four people were killed in a nighttime missile strike by Russian troops on the outskirts of Kharkiv on January 13, two of whom were in a shelter near the Nova Poshta terminal. According to preliminary data, the rocket hit directly into a modular shelter, which was almost completely destroyed.

The head of the Kharkiv OVA, Oleg Synegubov reported that there were people in the shelter at the time of the attack.

“There was a shelter. The shelter was almost completely destroyed. Currently, according to our preliminary information, the missile hit the shelter, and two people died directly in this shelter… Two more people died directly in the terminal itself,” he noted.

According to him, two more people who were near the destroyed shelter survived.

“And two people were rescued by the State Emergency Service units under air alarm signals – during the attack by the “Shaheds” – from under the rubble,” Sinegubov added. He specified that the strike on the facility was a combined one: “At first there were Iskanders, after the SES units arrived at the scene, the attack continued with Shaheds.”.

The spokesman for the SES in the Kharkiv region, Yevhen Vasylenko, confirmed that the destroyed shelter was modular and was located right on the street next to the terminal.

“There was a modular shelter there, as concrete as a bus stop. It was completely destroyed. There, 2 people were found dead and 2 were rescued – they were pulled out from under the rubble of this shelter,” he explained.

In addition, as a result of the impact, large-scale fires broke out in the terminal territory, which caused people to be blocked in another shelter.

“There was also a shelter in the terminal territory itself. And there were people trapped in it who could not get out due to heavy smoke and fire… And there rescuers saved 28 people,” Vasylenko reported.

According to the regional authorities, four victims are currently in hospitals, their condition is assessed as moderate.
