The Ministry of Education and Science has updated the requirements for creating electronic applications for textbooks

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine made changes to the Requirements for an interactive electronic supplement to a textbook. The changes were prepared based on the practical experience of publishing houses and specialists of the Ukrainian Institute for the Development of Education who participated in the development and examination of electronic supplements.

Among the main innovations are the clarification of the technical parameters of multimedia elements, the definition of requirements for interactivity and adaptability of content, as well as the provision of offline access. In addition, the updated rules provide for the organization of navigation elements, the use of sound and video support, as well as improving the convenience of using supplements on various devices.

A separate section of the document is devoted to electronic supplements for people with special educational needs. Such materials should be created in parallel with textbooks and meet the requirements of the DSTU standard “Requirements for the accessibility of ICT products and services”, as well as take into account the recommendations of teachers of special and inclusive educational institutions.

“The updated requirements are aimed at improving the quality of digital educational content and creating an accessible educational environment for all students”, the department explained.

The Ministry of Education and Science thanked the members of the working group and experts who participated in the development of the new requirements.
