Ukraine is preparing an employment program for people 50+
A program is being prepared in Ukraine to provide citizens over 50 with equal opportunities in employment and vocational training. Its testing is planned to begin this year. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture.
Deputy Minister of Economy Taras Vysotskyi noted during a meeting of the Accessibility Council that the Ukrainian labor market is currently facing a shortage of personnel and an age imbalance. At the same time, motivated specialists aged 50+ are often left out of the hiring process due to stereotypes and the lack of adapted employment formats.
The program provides comprehensive preparation of candidates 50+ to enter the labor market, including training courses, assistance in writing resumes, preparation for interviews, organization of quick meetings with employers, and short-term internships lasting up to 10 days.
The pilot launch is planned for 2026 with further scaling to the entire country. It is planned to form a pool of employers who will test a new model of adult hiring, as well as develop effective HR tools for rapid recruitment.
The goal of the pilot project is to attract up to 500 employers, provide at least 1,300 jobs, and draw wide attention to the topic of employment of older people.
In 2025, the median salary in Ukraine was 25,000 UAH, which is 23% more than a year earlier, but the personnel crisis in the labor market persisted.
